FRIDAY 22 TO SUNDAY 24 AUGUST 2014 AT DUNCOMBE PARK, HELMSLEY, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Practise Patience

23 Aug 2014   21:30 to 22:00
Practise Patience

The raw and honest writing of Henry Raby fused with the sweet gentle lyrics and sounds of Travels By Telephone will leave you feeling warm, enthused and keen to make that important phone call to the person living far away.

Together Henry Raby & Travels By Telephone present a sweet and touching non-gender-specific love story, mixing heartfelt spoken word with delicate musical accompaniment.   Practise Patience tells the story of a character finding themselves frustrated with the incessant addiction to their mobile phone, internet and constant connection.  Seeking refuge, they throw away their phone, and in the process discover what finding friendship means without constant instant connection.  The show runs with bare minimal low-fi story-telling, simple props and a simple backdrop underpinning the direct address spoken word, unplugged acoustic music and soundscape of waves and woods conjured using song and poetry.  The story featuring trees, teas and the timely thwacking of tambourines.
