FRIDAY 22 TO SUNDAY 24 AUGUST 2014 AT DUNCOMBE PARK, HELMSLEY, NORTH YORKSHIRE

The Stages

In 2014 we'll be running four outside stages and four stages in marquees, plus the fabulous ArtsBar tea-tent stage, and the Seaside performance area for storytelling and theatre. And lots of walkabout performance in the arena too. Details will appear below as the programme takes shape. Click on the stage name for details of what's happening on that stage.

The Black Howl

Named after Black Howl Wood to the east of the festival arena at Duncombe Park, this is our beautiful new acoustic stage and big top. It's the home of BBC Introducing, the Saturday Sessions, the Sundown Sessions, the Midnight Music Club and the Sunday Festival Fracas. Some extraordinary talent will be showcased here.

The Crafty Crayfish

A new venue for 2014, dedicated to arts and crafts for all ages. This tent will be located in the family area.

The Duke Stage

The Duke Stage

Our biggest stage, up at the top of the arena. Named after the Grand old Duke of York, who marched his 10,000 men up and down Crayke Hill, where our festival started. Yes, he really did! At least that's what they told us in the pub.

The Firkin Stage

    Sponsored by LazenbyBrown

The Firkin Stage

So named because of its proximity to 300 firkins of fine ale in the beer tent. This stage features open mic slots as well as scheduled performances, so ask the stage manager if you'd like to have a go.

The Galleon Stage

The Galleon Stage

Our fabulous Galleon stage is moored near the trees in the family area. A venue for theatre, stomping music and general merriment. And some strange goings-on in the rigging, no doubt...

The Little Top

Showcasing young talent by day - everything from bands to junk drums to Bollywood dancing. And by night curated sessions featuring cabaret, comedy, music, and late night chill-out.

The Oxman Stage
The other outdoor stage, named after the marvellous character from our logo. Home to #thehullinvasion on Saturday and #GALTRESROCKS! on Sunday.

The Ryedale ArtsBar

Head for the Ryedale ArtsBar tent and take a comfy sofa seat to enjoy some extraordinary performances from musicians, theatre groups, cabaret artists, stand-ups and much more ... with sessions throughout the weekend curated by the people behind the fantastic other events in Ryedale. From Malton's Cajun festival to Helmsley's Arts Centre look forward to talent and wonder in abundance.

The Snapping Turtle

A fantastic new venue for spoken word, theatre and storytelling. It will be located in a secluded area of the site next to Tall Trees island.

VISIT Tall Trees Island

Tall Trees Island is the heart of the family area within the festival. Come along and take a look, you never know what you might stumble across...

Take a stroll to the island across The Good Causeway and you'll discover the island brimming with activity. The Galleon Stage is back, and new venues The Crafty Crayfish and The Snapping Turtle have popped up ... to name but a few!
