FRIDAY 22 TO SUNDAY 24 AUGUST 2014 AT DUNCOMBE PARK, HELMSLEY, NORTH YORKSHIRE
Charity

Some exciting opportunities are available for charities, schools and community groups at this year's festival - visit the Take Part section of this website for details. There's also a downloadable information pack and application form.
In addition we sometimes make grants and donations to eligible local and regional charities and community each receiving a share of the profits - assuming of course we do manage to make some money! It's not easy these days but we do our very best! Find out more on the Galtres Foundation's website at http://galtres.foundation
This year we are organising a Grand Raffle. Find out how your business could take part and donate a prize.
Before the Festival we decide on how half of any proceeds from the Festival would be donated, and it is intended that core charities such as St Monica’s Hospital and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (pictured) will benefit. We're hoping to be able to once again support the exciting Arts Barge Project in York. After the Festival we'll be meeting to choose how to divvy up the rest of any money - we’re inviting applications from local charities and organisations for a share of the other half - if you know of any deserving causes please read our policy and submit an application.
Our festival also supports tree planting, with everyone who buys tickets being invited to contribute £5 as a voluntary carbon tax. We channel this money through Treemendous York to plant trees and to create new areas of woodland. Find out more ...
And more broadly, our procurement policies ensure significant support is given to good causes. For example, all coffee, tea and sugar at the festival comes from FairTrade sources, as does much of the wine and crafts on sale - supporting the development of sustainable communities overseas. We work with a number of charities and community organisations to ensure, for example, that children and adults with learning difficulties are able to participate in the programme as performers and traders - we feel that sort of opportunity is worth more than a cash donation, and it enriches the festival.
