Beers and Ciders

When it comes to this year's beer list, we've really pushed the boat out! Not that we need a boat as we're convinced the sun's going to come out and shine all weekend... but we pushed it anyway. The list will appear below as orders are confirmed.

We'll have several porters this year - more interesting stouts too, including Smokey Joe Stout from Geeves Brewery (Barnsley) and the marvellous Yorkshire Blackout from the Great Yorkshire Brewery at Cropton. More milds and IPAs, quite a few strong ales, and plenty of blondes, pale ales and session bitters. Head for the Real Ale Bar inside the big beer marquee.

Our Lager Bar will be back, run again jointly by the fabulous Mitchell Krause brewery in Cumbria, with a selection of their excellent chilled craft lagers - together with the excellent Yorkshire lager from the Great Yorkshire Brewery at Cropton just down the road, plus a few local pilsners including one from Hop Studio (Elvington) and another new one from Four Thorns (Heslington, York). And the massively popular Blondes Bar will be adding to the merriment - complete with silly wigs and a fine selection of chilled golden and blonde ales on hand pull. You won't go thirsty. And you'll be truly spoiled for choice.

And once again we're going to have a dedicated Cider Bar absolutely crammed with fine cider and perry - loads of varieties varieties including scrummy Janet's Jungle Juice, Monshine Perry, and lots more from Herefordshire and further south. Plus a return of the Yorkshire Cider Bar serving a feast of local varities including including Ampleforth Abbey Cider, made just a stone's through from our new festival site on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors,

All beers, ciders and perries will again cost £3.50 / pint, and really good wine from our gourmet Wine Bar costing from £3.50 per 175ml glass.

PS there's an exclusive pre-festival beer and cider tasting and judging event on the Friday lunchtime. If you'd like to come you'll need to sign up as a bar volunteer or as a sponsor. Last year's was fantastic fun - be part of the team and get to taste the beers before the festival even starts!

Wines

Our fabulous wine bar will be back for 2014 offering a wide selection of superb wines from around the world - and run for the second year for us by Corks & Cases independent wine merchants.

There will be reds, whites, roses and sparkling wines to suit every taste, including FairTrade, Yorkshire wines, organic and an excellent reduced alcohol wine too. Of course there will be the classics as well - see the extensive wine list below!

White Wines

House White - Cuvée Jean Paul. Gascogne, Sec.
France. 12.0% Abv. A 'Cotes de Gascogne' dry white wine with a fragrant nose and zesty flavours and invigorating finish of crisp green fruit in an uncomplicated style.

Pinot Grigio - Mirrabello.
Italy. 12% Abv. Fresh dry white with floral and citrus aromas, delicate palate light honeyed fruit balanced with lemony acidity giving a fresh finish.

Chardonnay - Tierra Antica.
Chile. 13.0% Abv. Lively young with vibrant flavours of luscious tropical fruits a well balanced, unoaked and is an uncomplicated modern easy drinking Chardonnay.

Sauvignon Blanc - Tierra Antica.
Chile. 12.5% Abv. Citrus Aromas of grapefruit and lime move into an elegant fruit character on the palate and bright refreshing acidity to the finish.

Elderflower Fruit Wine - Yorkshire Country Wines.
England. 11% Abv. A medium white fruit wine full fruit flavours and bouquet of elderflower and lychee on the palate.

Chenin Blanc - Liberty Fair Trade.
South Africa. 12.5% Abv. Crisp fresh apples, pineapple and fresh cut hay with a clean dry finish.

Sauvignon Blanc - Soleus Organic.
Chile. 12.5% Abv. Aromatic aromas of tropical fruits yield to gooseberry dry lemon and lychee with a dry finish.

Gewürztraminer/ Verdelho - Opal Ridge.
Australia. 13.0% Abv. A great combination of two wine grapes a full fruit driven wine which offers a really easy drinking medium style wine that is so so moreish

'Marlborough' Sauvignon Blanc - Fault Line.
New Zealand. 12.5% Abv. A really fresh Marlborough with aromas of stone fruits, tropical guava, limes and gooseberry making it a fresh and zingy mineral mouthful, great with seafood or by the glass.

Sparkling Wines

Brut Sparkling Wine- Pinot Noir / Chardonnay - Graham Beck.
South Africa. 12.0% Abv. A fresh well structured exceptional sparkling wine with hints of ripe fruit in particular golden delicious apple as a background note, as good as any Champagne!!

Verdejo / Sauvignon Blanc - Frizzante - 'Canto 5' - diez siglos.
Spain. 5.5% Abv. A delightful fresh white wine with light aniseed, citrus, green apple and full tropical fruit characters. The slight frizze on the palate is refreshing and off dry.... and light on the alcohol !!

Prosecco Frizzante - Carpené Malvolti.
Italy. 11.0% Abv. Delicate floral scent with a fresh lively light and elegant fruity taste. An excellent aperitif.

Cava Sec Brut NV - Freixenet Carta Nevada Reserva - 20cl mini bottle.
Italy. 11.5% Abv. Crisp fresh and dry, light flavours of apple and floral notes make this a refreshing delight.

Red Wines

House Red - Cuvée Jean Paul. Vaucluse Rouge.
France. 13.0% Abv. Friendly and warming, sweet rich fruits with an uncomplicated spiciness from its Rhone routes and blend of Grenache and Syrah grapes.

Granache - Borsao.
Spain. 13.5% Abv. The north east Moncayo mountain range has a unique microclimate that fuels this medium bodied red, aromas of ripe berry fruits and warm spicy flavours divine......

Cabernet Sauvignon - Tierra Antica.
Chile. 12.5% Abv. From the Central Valley an attractive deep purple colour that explodes with ripe black fruits on the nose and palate, a well balanced smooth and elegant Cab Sav..

Merlot - Tierra Antica.
Chile. 13.0% Abv. Intense cherry red, on the nose appears red and black fruits cherries and blackberry and a subtle spicy bay leaf character, balanced acidity & body.

Blackberry Fruit Wine - Yorkshire Country Wines.
England. 12% Abv. A medium bodied fruity red, full of Blackberry fruit and soft on the pallet.

Shiraz - Liberty Fair Trade.
South Africa. 14.5% Abv. Purfumes of dark berries and plum fruit well balanced on the palate with soft ripe tannins and a lively smoky cherry and red berry fruit finish.

Cabernet Sauvignon - Soleus Organic.
Chile. 13% Abv. Aromatic aromas of bramble briar fruit with a hint of spice rolling into liquorice and oak sensational award winning red...

Shiraz - The Black Shiraz.
Australia. 14.5% Abv. Full on Fruit aromas and slight toasty note, on the palate firstly deep blackberry and plum with intense vanilla and spicy notes and a long finish.

Malbec - Dona Paula Mendosa..
Argentina. 14.0% Abv. From the pre-Andean mountains of Mendosa the handpicked fruit is full of plum, black cherries, liquorice and dried herbs, rounded and generous mouth feel to a great smooth finish.

Rosé Wines

White Zinfandel - Wandering Bear.
South Africa. 11.0% Abv. Fresh summer fruits, strawberries and cream with a hint of raspberry in this medium sweet rose, simply delicious.

Sangiovese, Barbera, Shiraz - Broken Shackle Rosé.
Australia. 13% Abv. Fruit filled 'Maclaren Vale' rosé with a pomegranate and sweet berry flavour refreshing notes and a long contrasting dry finish.

Cava Rose Brut NV - Freixenet Carta Nevada Reserva - 20cl mini bottle.
Spain. 11.5% Abv. Bright strawberry pink fruit driven Cava bursting with zesty red cherry and red berry fruits.
