Festival of Fun

Beside the seaside, beside the sea!

The Great Yorkshire Seaside is coming to Galtres hosting fun-packed activities for all ages!

The festival aims to give you a fantastic weekend whatever your age. So why don’t you pack your bags, tents and grab your kids to enjoy the sounds, sights -and tastes- of all that we cherish about holidays on the coast?

This year the family area is centred round Tall Trees Island, a hub of activity with fun for all the family. The dramatic Galleon Stage is back and we have brought in new venues and attractions. The island will have its very own beach and donkeys will be coming to the festival, giving rides to the younger visitors. We will also be expanding our fun fair with rides such as; a helter skelter, twister and cups and saucers which are suitable for both the young and old.

'The Snapping Turtle' tent will host a diverse range of storytellers along the likes of Hekima Sing and Tell and Helen Sant, poets and workshops with choreographer Hayley Patrick, and the new 'Crafty Crayfish' tent will host creative drop in sessions running throughout the weekend.

There’s lots for children of all ages, plus mums and dads, to get involved in. Jump aboard the Bhangra ship and have a go at Bollywood dancing and bellydancing as part of an exciting interactive show. The magicians, story-tellers, poets and performers will provide plenty of opportunities for you all to take part, in addition to providing some first-class entertainment and an all-round good time.

Whether you choose to become a dancer from Fame, or get a selfie with a troll, Galtres guarantees you will go home having tried something new and with lots to talk about!

And when it’s time to re-charge the batteries, head for a deckchair and indulge in some seaside favourites such as fish and chips, an ice-cream or a bag of old-fashioned sweets or candy floss.

All the programmed storytellers, entertainment and activities on Tall Trees Island are included in the cost of your ticket…now that has to be a good deal.

What else is there…well as the evening falls and the littlest urchins go to bed The Snapping Turtle will come to life and host both local and national poets and 'stand-ups' to entertain the adults! The silent disco will also be back bigger and better than ever before, it will be placed in The Little Top this year, with brilliant music played to you by an array of local DJs and glitter balls galore!
