Hekima-Sing and Tell
An entertaining, educating and very interactive workshop; the audience are encouraged to become part of the tales by playing different characters in the stories, join in the drumming, sing along, you can learn some Swahili words too.
As we are living in a multi-culture society, the need to break down culture barriers is more than ever and a need for children to have an understanding of other cultures in order for them to accept/adopt to their own multi-cultural community. In the long run, this project is intended to bridge the gap between the first and the third world.
With so much poverty and tribal wars, the general understanding of Africa is commonly the one portrayed by the media. The aim is to reach, educate and at the same entertain the children in order to open their eyes to the brighter side of Africa, as a culture and also as a continent. As the African ancestors would say, 'a child is raised by a whole village'
