FRIDAY 22 TO SUNDAY 24 AUGUST 2014 AT DUNCOMBE PARK, HELMSLEY, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Foy Vance

22 Aug 2014   18:15 to 19:00
Foy Vance

acoustic / folk /

Hot off the back of last 2013's Northern Ireland Music Prize winning, Glassnote Records-released LP Joy of Nothing, Foy Vance is one of the brightest rising stars on the acoustic circuit. Attaining cult celebrity almost overnight when the songs 'Homebird' and 'Gabriel and the Vagabond' were featured in the second season of hit US drama Grey's Anatomy in the mid-noughties, Vance has gone on to steal the hearts of music lovers the world over with his rootsy yet thoroughly modern songwriting efforts.

With collaborators and tour-mates ranging from the brilliant Bonnie Raitt to Ed Sheeran, Vance occupies a unique perch in the music industry that sits directly between irresistible mass appeal and well-honed, idiosyncratic brilliance. His songwriting is rich in influences, perhaps most notably the Americana tropes acquired during his time travelling across the United States as a child and young man, which add Bruce Springsteen levels of electricity to his compositions and live performances. For fans of Bon Iver, Ben Howard and Bear's Den.
