Beggar's Bridge

25 Aug 2013
Beggar's Bridge

acoustic / folk /

Beggar’s Bridge are a four-piece band from Hull who write song-stories in the best folk traditions, often based upon tales of people, places and events from their home county of East Yorkshire, encapsulating its rural, urban and maritime heritage. Their sound has a timeless quality to it, sounding at once traditional yet contemporary too, and their debut album “Riding East” has gathered excellent reviews since its release in 2012.

"Full of evocative and picturesque stories that celebrate the traditions and history of their home county, it’s wildly refreshing to listen to a group not only singing about their local past, but revelling in their own traditional folk sound." - BrightYoungFolk.com

"Folk music that could only originate in England’s ‘green and pleasant’. Every song exudes the common inheritance, both good and bad, that history has woven across this land. Enchanting music, absorbing storytelling and engaging vocals. This is grass roots folk and well worth a listen." - Folkwords.com
