Camping

UPDATED 21 DECEMBER 2011

There are two main camping areas at Galtres Festival. Mosswood is right next to the arena, and Peel Park is two miles up the road near Brandsby offering a more peaceful and spacious environment. Peel Park is connected by a Shuttle Bus. As of today there's still plenty of space for tents, caravans and campervans in all areas except the Mosswood family area, which has nearly sold out.

Please don't turn up without a camping pass, or we won't be able to let you camp.

Onsite camping - 'MOSSWOOD'

It's very near to the main parking area, but you can't park in the main camping field - sorry, the farmer doesn't want vehicles on the grassland. You can however drop your stuff at the entrance to this field before parking up. Parking is free.

If you're lucky enough to have a family camping pass for Mosswood, you can park by your tent - it's a different field. You should receive a Gate 0 permit with your tickets which will get your car in.

We've moved the caravan and campervan area into a new field accessible directly from the road, so it should be an improvement on last year. It's a stubble field with trackway in case it's wet - but being stubble it means caravans and tents can't be together. If you want that, opt for Peel Park.

No fires please and BBQs on stands. Free drinking water, lots of toilets, lights, and recycling facilities. Hot showers are offered on site. This campsite will be catered - including full English breakfasts with veggie options, and milk for sale.

Offsite camping - 'PEEL PARK'

We're also now taking bookings into Peel Park, a short drive up the road from the arena.  It's a lovely grassy bowl with loads of space for tents, caravans. and campervans. There will be drinking water, lit toilets, and recycling facilities. You can drive in and park next to your tent and there will be trackway or similar at the entrance if it's muddy. We run a regular shuttle minibus to get you to and from the festival site and the showers. It's free to get to the festival site, but 1 voucher (£1.75) to get back. There will be more buses than last year - the shuttle will run every 30 minutes in each direction.

Permanent security patrol.

No fires please and BBQs on stands. There's no catering or showers at this campsite. Head down to the Mosswood campsite by the festival entrance for catering - including full English breakfasts with veggie options, and milk for sale.

CAMPSITE SHOWERS

Hot showers are offered each morning at Mosswood camping area next to the arena entrance, connected to Peel Park by the shuttle buses running between. The showers are private cubicles with one for wheelchair users

CAMPSITE CHARGES

The cost for weekend camping will be a modest £10 for a small tent (up to 8 square metres - about the size of a car) or £20 for a medium tent (up to 15 square metres, the size of 2 cars). As many people seem to turn up with mini-marquees we've introduced a new large tent size of 30 square metres for £40 - that's about the size of 4 cars. If your tent is bigger than that (!) please buy multiple passes to make up the size. Caravans and campervans cost £40, or £60 with electric (limited hook-ups available) . Hot showers cost £3.50 (2 vouchers) - make sure you get vouchers with your tickets.  Camping prices are per tent or caravan, not per person.

You need to book camping in advance - you can't just turn up. We'll send you a special pass - without one you won't be able to get into the campsites. All campsite are patrolled 24x7 by our event security.

Backstage camping

An area behind the main stage will be available for event staff, volunteers and performers. Ask James  or Dan for details if you're involved in the Festival. Special passes will be required.

Enter at gate 4. This year, to create more space for tents in this area, we'll ask you to park in the next field once you've unloaded.

Alternative camping and caravanning - offsite

Alternatively camping can be arranged at a permanent camping and caravan site about six miles from the Festival site. Telephone Ponderosa on 01347 810706. Public buses will be running to and from the festival site from Ponderosa, but not the special festival buses.

Festival camping areas open noon on Friday 24 August and close at 12 noon Monday 27 August.
